Update Wizard Uninstall This probably won't do
anything when you first install Windows 98, but it could
be a lifesaver later on.
Windows 98 has an Update Wizard
that uses your modem to locate, download and install an
updated driver, an update to part of the Windows system,
or new tools. If there is a problem with the new
software, you may want to uninstall it. Update Wizard
Uninstall will undo the update and revert to the previous
version of the driver or other Windows component.
The Update Wizard is accessible
through various parts of the system. For example, when
you bring up the Display Properties dialog and press the
Advanced button on the Settings tab, you can opt to
change the display driver. When you do so, you are presented with this dialog:

The Microsoft Windows Update
checkbox is the one that tells it to look on Microsoft's
online database for an updated driver. You must have
registered via the Registration Wizard to take advantage
of this facility, though registration can be done
instantly online.
There is also a Windows Update item
on the Start menu.
After you have installed updates
this way, Update Uninstall Wizard will list them and
offer the option to uninstall.
